KY house interior "before and after"s
BEFORE's AFTER's
This was some kind of paint job in the dining room |
As we have no need of a dining room we made it a reading room. |
Walking in the front door was a visual assault
Now the home is calm and relaxing instead of a garishly colored comic book scheme. |
Living room was a terrible orange
Now the living room is a calm green- you no longer have to squint!
Bare ORANGE
The orange squeezed the breath out of you
Part of our Irish Wolfhound art collection
We find this much more relaxing |
Did we mention how much we HATED the colors? |
Did we mention how much we love the new paint job?
The kitchen really was the worst of all- it was hideous, gross, and just an all around bad idea.
As much as I would love a total kitchen redo, I think simple new paint did wonders for the space. And the new French door fridge, too.
WHO thought this was a good idea?
We love the new colors. |
Door to the side porch on the left
And the door to the basement on the right |
This really was the worst of all- it looks like a box of crayons exploded
MUCH better
Teeny third bedroom
Is electronic drum kit room
Previous owners had clutter issues in the second bedroom- ya think?
Upstairs office
They even managed to screw up a simple bathroom
More weird colors, admittedly not as bad as the rest!
We put it right in short order
Master bedroom my way- more on that antique bedstead later!
Basement was the only staged place in the house- it must have been horrific. But they painted great wads of dog hair into the floor.
It's still a basement, but it's our favorite place to be.
Yep- this is the only area they cleaned before selling the place.
It still needs work but you can see where it is going. It's Billy's "Man Room".
Nasty laundry area
Much better now.
Wide view of the basement just after we took possession. |
And this is where we spend the bulk of our time. |
Don't laugh- it's paid for!
The exterior before and afters are even more dramatic- check 'em out!!
So this represents our initial settling in process. We did not get to do all of the remodeling we had hoped for in the kitchen as we ran out of money prematurely (and are determined to remain debtless), but it can wait. It's plenty functional.
We heated with wood exclusively last winter and loved it. This is next years batch.
Billy is a lumberjack!
Pacific Energy "Pacific (D-1) model insert heated our entire home! The furnace only kicked on once it got below about 10ºF, so we are thrilled. This baby puts out some heat! As transplanted South Floridians we were a bit worried about cold weather, but honestly- we've never spent a warmer winter anywhere.
