Pool view...

View of the northeast corner 1991- all that existed was a diseased lemon tree.

Same view today

One of our first plantings around 1992.

W-a-y back in the corner you can see that we planted some teeny Queen Palms, but that chain link fence had to go!

In 1996 we finally replaced the fencing- this is a view of the corner from the roof. You can see how those Queen Palms have grown! Those palms are the only things we did not take out and redo when the new fence went in.

Same corner 1997 and those Queens keep on a growing. Unfortunately, as anyone who ever owned a Queen knows, they are maintenance nightmares. Fruits and flowers are constantly falling in the pool, and very soon our pole saw will be unable to get to the dead fronds.

Queens today. I have just arranged to have them removed.

I wish that I had known about their issues when I planted them. I hate like the dickens to take out perfectly healthy and gorgeous palms like these, but the maintenance is a problem. We're not getting any younger, and getting the dead fronds off and dealing with the pool schmutz is just too much.

(new photo as soon as the tree guy gets here!)
